Core responsibilities and duties

As a Support Worker with Pegasus Care, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals to live fulfilling, independent lives while ensuring their dignity, privacy and personal choices are respected at all times.

You will provide person-centred support with daily living activities, including personal care such as washing, bathing, showering, dressing and toileting. You will promote the health and wellbeing of service users by encouraging healthy lifestyles, supporting medical needs and working closely with healthcare professionals where required. This may include accompanying individuals to appointments such as GP visits, dental appointments and physiotherapy sessions.

A key part of the role is supporting people to develop and maintain their independence. This includes assisting with household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, shopping, meal preparation and cooking, as well as supporting individuals to access their local community and participate in meaningful activities, hobbies, holidays and day trips.

You will work in a respectful and inclusive manner, recognising and valuing each individual’s age, gender, ethnicity, religion, culture and personal preferences. You will support service users to make informed choices, maintain control over their lives and achieve their personal goals through person-centred support planning.

Accurate record keeping is an important part of the role. You will be responsible for completing documentation to a high standard, ensuring records are accurate, up to date and compliant with company policies and procedures. You will also be expected to participate in training, supervision sessions, team meetings and induction programmes to support your ongoing professional development.

You will support individuals with managing their finances and maintaining realistic budgets where appropriate. You may also be required to administer medication following company and local authority procedures, having successfully completed the necessary training.

All staff are expected to work safely and professionally at all times, following health and safety procedures, safeguarding requirements and company policies. This role may involve undertaking manual handling activities and attending relevant training.
